It’s one thing to buy a quality hair wig; it is another thing to put it on appropriately. It is easy to think it is a simple thing to put wigs on, yes. But if you must look natural and be flawless, some essential tips must be followed to guide you wear it right.

As a wig enthusiast, or let me call myself an ‘addict’, I felt the need to share with you guys a couple of things I know about wearing wigs, as I did concerning choosing the perfect wig colour. As lil as it may be, it’ll definitely interest and help one or two wig lovers out there.

Firstly, synthetic hair wigs may not require styling and could just be put on like that. However, human hair wigs must be trimmed (advisable) and styled before you can wear it.

The first in the process of putting a wig on is to prepare your own hair before ever putting on a wig. Short hair could be trimmed and brushed back; long hair could be packed, pinned and made flat. If you have little or no hair at all, you might need to wear an underlay or liner to secure your wig for a grip onto your head and keep it fit. The next thing now is to follow these step-by-step guidelines on how to correctly put on a wig:

Step-By-Step Guidelines On How To Wear A Wig

  1. Hold the wig by its nape and tilt your head slightly forward;
  2. Put the wig above your eyebrows and below the hairline. Pull it back from the front, backward motion;
  3. Push back the wig from the front to meet your hairline;
  4. Hold the ear tabs in order to adjust them to your temples; and
  5. Lastly, customize the tab for a secure fit as may be needed.

Just in case the wig feels loose or tight, use the adjustable Velcro tabs located in the back of the wig to fit the wig to your head (If the wig has one). You can adjust the circumference of the wig up to ½” on each side for comfort.

Once your wig is in place, you can style it as you desire. Don’t forget to use only wig styling tools and products, including hair spray and mousse, that’s made specifically for wigs.

I believe this should help someone one way or the other. Thanks for reading, don’t forget to share with friends.
