Travelling abroad is cute, but you know what’s not cute, having difficulty with accommodation when you travel. Good thing, there are lots of companies that help make apartment search easy.

So I had to look for an apartment like some few days ago, and I used Airbnb, which I’ll be talking about today as I believe there’ll always be someone out there who doesn’t know how to.

I’ll be sharing with you how to make the right choice of apartment and things to look out for before booking an apartment on Airbnb.

Speaking Of Airbnb?

Airbnb is an online market place that links people looking for accommodation in a particular area with those who have apartments to rent out. Basically, let’s say you’re travelling to a particular destination and you need accommodation, on Airbnb,  you can find several options for apartments listed by different hosts.

How To Search For Apartments On Airbnb?

The first thing you need to do is go to the website. On there you’ll find filters like lodging type, the number of guest, location, dates and price) to help streamline your search. There are also pictures of these apartments on the website. Once you find the one that catches your fancy and is available during the period of your stay, you can go ahead and book it.

You would be required to provide some personal details and payment information. In some cases, depending on the host, you may be required to provide government-issued identification.

5 Important Things To Note When Searching For Apartments On Airbnb

1. Most times, houses in pictures are smaller than they appear

You need to know that hosts will put up the best possible pictures shot from the best possible angles. These pictures sometimes can create an illusion of a bigger space in the house than there actually is.

2. If you’re particular about views, tall buildings and lights, you might want to do extra research on the area to choose.

3.  Don’t assume the availability of amenities in the house if it isn’t stated on the website among the amenities present in the house.

4. Check reviews. This is more like the most important point here. Read what previous occupants had to say about the apartment, they will only have some common words.

5. Ensure there’s wifi.

Quick Story.

I booked an apartment on Airbnb and I saw great pictures. I got to the house (which was really nice by the way). Long story short, the kitchen was all equipped (dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster and many more and I expected that a blender at least would be there. The morning I needed a blender, checked everywhere in the kitchen and didn’t find one. Apparently, it wasn’t listed among the things available in the house sooo.. cant complain.
