Having dry skin sometimes means you focus on skincare products with formulas and ingredients that hydrate your skin. You avoid anything that you feel might dry out your skin, including cleansers, and no doubt for good reasons too. Some cleansers have certain ingredients that may not be so friendly or compatible with your skin type thereby doing more harm than good.

I understand your plight, but if you also have skin issues like frequently breaking out, not using a cleanser is doing more damage to your skin. The trick here is to identify the right ingredients in whatever product you choose to make use of. Being sure about the components of the products informs your choice and you know which works best for you, depending on your skin’s needs.

You want to go with a very hydrating formula for dry skin and add moisture to your skin. You also want to avoid products that have alcohol and parabens as part of the ingredients as these can further dry out your skin, adopt a skincare routine that works for your skin type, like a very simple 3 step “cleanse, tone and moisturize” or a 10 step Korean skincare routine– if you don’t have a routine in place already. When shopping for skincare products, you should always read the labels to know what ingredients are used to have an overview of what that product can do and may not do for your skin. Alternately, you can choose to go with recommendations by either a derm

That being said, I’ve done some research and come up with a list of cleansers that work well with dry skin.

Best Affordable Cleansers for Dry Skin You Should Try

1. Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Hydrating Daily Facial Cleanser

This cleanser is a top choice not only because it is economical, but because it does exactly what it should do. It gently cleanses your skin without stripping it of any oils needed or drying your skin out, while lightly hydrating your skin. It is formulated with glycerin water and some other fatty alcohols, so you don’t have to worry about any irritants. Your skin feels cleaner and fresher after a good cleanse. It doesn’t really lather up but it’s definitely easy to rinse off without leaving any residue.

For an $8 drugstore product, this is definitely a good option.

2. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

This is another popular drugstore choice when it comes to skincare, and it’s popular for its benefits. The face wash has a low suds formula that is gentle but still effectively cleanses your skin. It gets rid of dirt and impurities but does not strip your skin of its protective layers. If you also prefer an unscented face wash then you should grab this on your next store run. Oh, and it’s non-comedogenic, so no worries about clogged pores if you’re also prone to acne too. It’s under $10 so you get to save some money as well.

This ensures the formula is very gentle on the skin. It does however contain some contain fatty alcohols, stearyl alcohol and Cetearyl alcohol to be specific, some skin types may not love this. It is oil-free and non-comedogenic so it won’t clog your pores. It is free of any fragrance and is packed with hyaluronic acid which helps lock the moisture into your skin.

The cleanser is very creamy so only a small amount is needed, and then rinse off thoroughly.
