Getting that glowing flawless skin is all about using the right skincare products. Applying substandard products on your skin could damage your skin and have adverse effects on your health. But what happens when you’re in a country where there isn’t Sephora for you to pick up these products directly from the company’s stand?

There are so many stores, both large and small, all promising that they sell quality skincare products. Finding the right places to buy not only affordable but original skincare products in Nigeria is a great task. You are left to sieve the wheat from the shaft, the authentic ones from the fake.

There will be a few bad apples in the basket, but there are still very good ones in there. So, you’re looking for the right store, but you don’t want to be ripped off. You can do a quick search on the internet and either order or get the address of a store close to you, or go on social media.

Whichever route you wish to take, I’ll be sharing with you  few things to look out for before you patronise an online skincare store in Nigeria as well as recommending some online stores that sell authentic skincare products in Nigeria. Let’s get into it.

How To Recognise A Credible Online Skincare Store In Nigeria

1. Reviews

Skincare product reviews are one of the ways we determine the Genuity of services and products. Before you download that app, you take a quick glance at the reviews to see what previous users have to say about it. This also applies to every other thing. Every reliable business with a reputation should have a review section. This makes the business feel more real and puts your mind at ease.

Positive or negative, there should be something said about their services and the quality of the products they sell. This helps to establish the credibility of the store. Although businesses can handpick the most favourable reviews for their page, you can go through the comments on their social media account, and if it’s a website go through as many reviews as possible.

2. Referrals

Referrals are what keeps a business going. If a store is referred to you, then they are most likely genuine. People are most likely to purchase from a business that is referred to them by another person. Tagging of stores on social media by other everyday users is a form of referral. The more a store gets tagged, the more believable and reliable their products and services are.

3. Track Record

When searching for a store, it is important to take a look at their history. Check how long they have been in operation, and if they have been very consistent over time. This is especially helpful and more effective for stores on social media like Instagram. Go through their feeds, see how long they have been posting and the quality of their post.

4. Registration and Address

Businesses are registered legally under the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and are given a registration number. Not all businesses go through the rigour of registering their business, but a store that is registered is more legitimate. A registration number that can be verified supports the legitimacy of the store.

Businesses with both an online and offline presence have their address put up on their page or website. This allows you to either pick up your goods yourself or make a return and place a complaint if there are any problems. Be sure that the store has a return policy in place.

I need to say however that all these don’t apply to every store, they are just a few pointers to look out for before making that purchase. Any store you do decide to buy your skincare products should have at least two of the above mentioned.

Now that you know some of the things to look out for, you are free to shop away. Not sure where to begin your search from? Here are a few stores specially selected for you to buy beauty and skincare products in Nigeria.
