Glasses are one of the cutest accessories one could rock, they always give a “nerdy” look to anyone wearing one. But sometimes, it can be a chore and brain-racking to find a way to apply the adequate level of makeup to complement the look.

I am shortsighted, I wear prescription glasses with -5.0 lens, yeah, that high; and at the same time, I’m a makeup artist, I love makeup and I can’t escape wearing them once in a while. In this article, I gave tips on how to do makeup when wearing glasses which I have personally tested and it worked so next time you want to wear makeup, you don’t need to bother about your glasses ruining your slay.

Important Makeup Tips For Glasses Wearers

1. Make Use Of Tinted Moisturizers

Tinted moisturizers always come handy, they help to hide the marks glasses leave on the face.

Apply a beauty balm, like Stila Stay All Day 10-In-One HD Illuminating Beauty Balm, all over your face, but focus on certain spots, like the area around your nose. That way if you take your glasses off at any point you won’t have those annoying little red marks that glasses tend to leave on the bridge of your nose. An adequate foundation will also help get rid of any uneven redness from the start, making your skin look really polished so that your eyes stand out even more.

2. Try Other Eyeliner And Eyeshadow Colors

Black liner or shadow can be too heavy for most girls with glasses, but a sparkly navy or a deep burgundy liner, is warmer and makes everyone look good, no matter what skin tone or hair color you have. These hues give enough power and definition, all while brightening up your eyes and giving you a cool, on-trend look.

3. To keep your glasses from sliding down your nose, use a primer before anything else.

How to keep glasses from sliding down your nose is one of the most frequent questions asked, whether you are wearing a foundation or not, it is important to use a primer on the bridge of your nose to prevent slippage. You can even add a translucent powder or setting spray on top.

You should particularly put a setting powder on places where your glasses touch your face like your nose and under your eyes, this not only prevents the glasses from sliding down your face but it also prevents the transfer of makeup products from your face to glasses.

Also when the frames or glasses cast a shadow on your face, you can use a yellow-toned concealer to counteract its effect

4. Go heavy on the mascara at the root of your lashes, but not on the tips.

Apply one coat of mascara from root to tip as you normally would, but with the second coat, focus on just the roots. If the tips of your lashes are as heavy as the base, they’ll fall straight again, hitting the glass, Instead, wiggle the wand back and forth against the roots of the lashes, so that you have the intensity at the root, but it won’t be heavy at the tip.

In summary, focus more on curling your lashes than making them longer.

5. Keep Your Eyeshadow Simple

Lay low on eyeshadow and stick with neutral tones to keep your eyes from looking too heavy in glasses.
Sometimes when girls have too much eye makeup on, it starts to look heavy, so keep it to the bare minimum with eyeshadow, especially in the brow bone area. If you do prefer to wear shadow though, use neutral shades.

7. Don’t Forget To Shape Your Brows

Even though your glasses may hide them, it’s equally important to tend to your brows because they help frame your face for a makeup look that feels complete. To make them stand out. Don’t know how to draw your brows?, here’s an easy eyebrow tutorial video that can be of help to you.

9. When in doubt, always go with a cat-eye.

Cat eyes are great because you can create the shape you want your eyes to be. Keep the intensity of the line near the lash line though, but feel free to experiment with different angles and shapes of the flick. Personally, I favor eyeliner more than eyeshadow on days I’ll be wearing my glasses instead of contact lens. Simple eyeshadow, great liner and red lipstick, and you’re date-night makeup ready

10. Don’t Neglect The Hygiene

Because your glasses come in contact with your face often, ensure that you clean your frames well, to prevent the transfer of bacteria or other germs to your face.

In addition to these, you can also;

  •  Curl your lashes to make the most of your gorgeous eyes.
  • Let the color of your frames guide your choice of eyeliner shades.

These are just a few tips, that if incorporated or used, you won’t need to ask questions like ‘how can I be pretty with glasses?’ anymore.  So hey girl, wearing glasses shouldn’t diminish your makeup shine in any way. Put some of these into practice and let me know how well it works for you.
