10 Makeup Hacks Every Lady Should Know

Makeup can be likened to any other art in the world, in the sense that there are rules guiding it and creativity serves as the bedrock. If there’s one thing that is peculiar to makeup, it is that there is security and comfort in knowing what really works and doing what really works.

I personally am tired of seeing my mum, some friends and some people go wrong with their makeup and being oblivious of some life-changing makeup tricks. The last time I did a review of some Zaron cosmetics products (I got good feedback on that); this time, however, I’ve made some research and since you’ve asked for it, I will be serving you 10 makeup hacks that make you the boss in this makeup game.

1. Have a fresh start

Of course, we know primers help in keeping oily face in check, but nothing, not even primer can work the wonders of water. To achieve a lit makeup, you need to wash your face with water and moisturize it. Honestly, it gives the best result. This trick is to clean your face so that it looks like a fresh canvass to work on. This helps you remove dirt and help prevent acne breakouts. Devise a skin care routine with good skin care products and stick with it before applying your makeup.

2. Sort out your eye region before moving to your face

Personally, I feel the bulk of makeup rests on the eyes especially if you’re not a professional. Once you get past the eye region, everything becomes easy-peasy. Even some makeup artists would prefer to be done with the eyes first before they move on to the whole face. It’s not a ritual, it’s just the smartest way to not make a mess on the face. Also, ensure you prime your eyelids before applying your eyeshadow. This would make it last longer.

3. Use a Bobby Pin on Your Eyelids

You can make use of a bobby pin to achieve a winged eyeliner look. Just take the tip of the part that clips, add your eyeliner on it then place it carefully on the edge of your eyelids. Just like that, you’ve created a winged look.

4. Make Your Eyes Look Wider

When applying your mascara, try to brush your lashes towards your nose towards your head (i mean upwards) This give the effect of fuller lashes and bigger eyes.

5. Revive Dry Mascara with Saline solution

Dry and clumpy mascaras are a heartbreak, I tell you. Revive your mascara by adding drops of saline solution or place the sealed tube in a cup of warm water. This also helps in loosening up dry mascara.

6. Exfoliate Your Lips

You might be more particular about exfoliating your face but you never should ignore your lips. It goes a long way in making your lips look very vibrant and it makes your lipstick fit perfectly. I wrote a post previously on the health benefits of wearing lipsticks, you should actually check it.

7. Use serums for glossy lids

Glossy lids are the in thing now and if you want to follow the trend, take a hydrating serum and apply a few layers on your eyelid area. This gives a naturally glossy and hydrating effect on your eyes.

8. Thicken your Foundation for concealer

When you run out of concealer, you can make use of your liquid foundation. Just add a few shakes of loose powder to it and it will thicken it and voila! You have your concealer ready.

9. White Liner to the rescue

Want to create a bolder and bigger eye effect? Using a white eyeliner or a white concealer in your waterline is your best bet.

10. Reuse Your False Lashes With a Spoolie Brush

It not everyone that has the ability to buy new falsies every time. Some false lashes are expensive and we can’t just stop at our first use, no, never. To reuse your false lashes, carefully peel off the glue adhesive from the lash band carefully and get a spoolie brush or the wand of an old bottle of mascara and gently brush out each lash to get grease, glue and mascara away.

Bonus Hack (‘cos I’m nice)

Just use powder

For an added makeup tip to rival all makeup hacks, make use of baby powder as a way to set your foundation.

If you put these tips to use, trust me, you’ll see a noticeable difference in your makeup game! Do you have any makeup related questions or need more tips in specific areas? Do not hesitate to leave a comment or contact me personally.
